SHOW INTRODUCTION I’m amazed by how effective industry is in creating need in consumers. When I was a child I don’t remember many products being scented. These days when someone makes an appointment to see me in person and I ask about scented laundry products, they are surprised that conventional products have a smell. People are so inundated with fragrances that they don’t perceive them. These scents are so strong that I can’t get them out of my furniture after the appointment! We live in a fog of fragrances that are made from volatile chemical compounds that are known to promote cancer and their effects are amplified in combination. So why is this allowed? After all, when you do take the time to check the label, they don’t list these chemicals; they may even list the scent as an essential oil. People are so used to covering odors with fragrances that they can’t even smell anymore. Asthmatics and people who are sensitive sure can, though. Can something you can’t perceive hurt you? Well, I think you know the answer! Join us today for the science around fragrance and how large industry once again, stinks.
