SHOW INTRODUCTION Today we honor the life of orthomolecular pioneer Abram Hoffer MD, PhD who died this year at the age of ninety-one. Although less well known, Dr. Hoffer’s work inspired Linus Pauling. He wrote, researched, and maintained a patient practice throughout his long life. His work and discoveries into the nature of nutrient deficiencies as a root of illness—particularly psychiatric—should have changed forever the way patients are treated. Unfortunately, economic forces, conventional medicine, and big pharma have ignored much of his groundbreaking research. Because of Dr. Hoffer’s work, there is a new generation of orthomolecular doctors and health educators who are still pushing forward, finding even more connections between nutrient deficiencies, disease diagnoses, and early childhood brain injuries. Without his tireless work we would be well behind where we are today. I’m joined today by Andrew Saul PhD who wrote several books with Dr. Hoffer.
