SHOW INTRODUCTION We are designed to move. Like other living creatures, movement is life. So it isn't surprising that physical exercise mediates the damaging effects of stress, conditions and strengthens our heart and circulatory systems, builds lung capacity, increases longevity and healthy aging, maintains lean muscle and bone mass, which in turn increases protective hormones and reduces the harmful effects of catacholimines which break us down. Research also cites the effects of exercise in reducing inflammation and mobilizing our detoxification pathways. So it's really good. And many people don't do it for so many reasons. Our built environment often doesn't allow us to walk or cycle. Commutes in cars and long work hours in artificial environments interfer with our access to and energy for movement and exercise. Still it's always been my belief that if people understand how critical it is to vitality and longevity, they will find a way to exercise. Today Dr. Fawcett and I discuss: Exercise and Disease Prevention.
