SHOW INTRODUCTION For years I’ve heard women say, “Oh well, I’ll just get [insert favorite cosmetic surgery technique].” I always wonder if they’re remembering that all medical procedures involve stress—not an all together good thing for youthful skin. But there’s even a more compelling reason to hesitate. Most of the techniques designed to hide wrinkles and sagging faces involve either paralyzing the facial muscles, plumping the skin up, or stretching the skin over under-used muscles. The irony is that many of the women who want to remain youthful are exercising the large muscles of their bodies and forgetting that the face has muscles too.Working your muscles keeps them from sagging and even, yes, wrinkling, so it is with your face. I first learned this from Jack Lalanne. I was an early fan and have been doing his facial exercises for years, much to the shock of drivers who stop next to me. So, as usual, you have a choice: you can have procedures that ignore your muscles, which ends up causing more sagging and hence more procedures, OR you can start working those muscles! We’re joined today by the author of The Yoga Facelift.
